Hopkins Park Service Day

Date: Postponed until summer.  The new date will be posted when determined. No registrations will be taken until a new date is determined.  
 

Location: Meet at St. Jude in Franciscan Hall.  Participants will carpool and caravan.  Our home base is Sacred Heart Mission Church 16485 E Birch St in Hopkins Park, IL

Age: This trip is open to all parishioners (students in 6th grade or younger must have a parent attend with them, the work site has age-appropriate activities for children 6 and older).  All participants 18 and older MUST attend a Protecting God’s Children Workshop.

Cost: $10 per person with a family maximum of $50.

Description of the service: Tasks include (but are not limited to) landscaping, constructing picnic tables, clearing & cleaning, painting, etc.  We will also have a kitchen crew to prepare the community dinner.  A more complete description of the work sites will be available at the essential meeting on SUNDAY, MARCH 22nd 2:30-3:45 pm in the Day Chapel.

Description of the day: In the morning, we will gather at St. Jude and after a brief introduction, carpool to Hopkins Park. Work crews will be sent out to a variety of sites.  Sack-lunch, water and a community dinner will be provided.  We will drive back to St. Jude together.  

Transportation: We will carpool in personal vehicles that will carpool from St. Jude Church to Hopkins Park. 

What to bring: Participants are asked to wear protective work clothes (long pants, gym shoes or work boots-no sandals or flip flops, a hat and work gloves), and bring a water bottle.  More specific tools may be needed and will be emailed to participants prior to April 4.

Essential Meeting: All adult and teen participants are asked to attend on Sunday, March 22nd 2:30-3:45 pm in the Day Chapel. St. Jude Service Tee Shirts will be available for purchase at the meeting $10 each.
