PROGRAM GOALS:

The Extended Care program seeks to provide quality, structured before and after care for students of St. Jude School through a variety of activities for students ranging from Preschool through Grade 8.  The After Care Program is available each full day that school is in session.

 HOURS OF OPERATION FOR PRESCHOOL 

 Morning Session  :  9:00 a.m. to 11.25 p.m. 

Afternoon Session: 12.45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Bring your own lunch or order hot lunch, provide own nap mat.

Before 9:00 a.m. and After 3:30 p.m., Preschool students can go to Before & After School care with rest of SJS students for an additional cost.  See fees below.

 

EXTENDED CARE MORNING SESSION

 Hours: 6:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

*Quiet study, reading or games.  The children will join their classmates when they begin to arrive

EXTENDED CARE AFTERNOON SESSION

Hours: 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

*Bring your own snack, group activity time. Homework and quiet reading.

Registration: 

Parents wishing to use this program will be required to register their children.  All users must fill out a registration form for each of your children who will be participating in the program. Including siblings of band members.  The registration form must include a list of 3 names and phone numbers of those people other than parents or guardians, who are authorized to pick the children up from extended care, and are available during Extended Day times.  Check to see that their contact information is correct.  All children who will be using this program must pay the fees, including siblings of band members.  The fees are all per session.  However, band members will not be charged for the morning session.  If your child will not be staying for a complete session, there will be a minimum of $3.00 per ½ hour per child.

 

Billing:

Billing processes are detailed in this handbook.  It is imperative for continued participation in this program that bills are met by the specified due dates.  SORRY, NO EXCEPTIONS!

PAYMENT:

Payment for regular users will be billed on a weekly basis. Occasional users will be expected to pay on the day that the program is used.  If payment is to be made by check, please make that check payable to St. Jude School.  There will be a $25.00 charge for any returned check.  If payment is made in cash, please send the exact amount in the envelope you received with your bill.  Please pay your bill in a timely manner.

  

CHARGES FOR OVERTIME:

Children should not arrive before 6:45 a.m.for the Morning Session, and should be picked up no later than 6:00 p.m. from the Afternoon Session.  You will be charged an additional late fee in addition to your extended care fee if your child is not picked up by 6:00 p.m. Abuse (2) times of the arrival and pick up will result in your child (ren) being dropped from the program.  These fees will be:

6:00-6:15 p.m.- an additional $8.00 per Child

6:15-6:30 p.m.- an additional $11.00 per Child

after 6:30 p.m.- an additional $15.00 per Child

 

DROP OFF AND PICK UP:

If your child will be using the Morning Session, please bring him/her into the school building and sign them in.  Likewise, when picking them up in the afternoon, please come into the school building and sign your child out.  The signing in and out is for your child's safety and protection.

 

OCCASIONAL USERS:

If your child is an occasional user and you wish to use the program after school:

1. Have your child bring a note to the school office.  This note  should state your intention of having him/her stay and the date and hours needed, or call the school office by 2:00 p.m. on the day your wish your child to stay.  A note will be sent down to your student.

2. If you wish to use the program in the morning, bring your  child(ren), and sign him/her in.  Payment will be billed or you may pay.

 All of the school's rules and policies will be enforced during extended care.  Misconducts and detentions will be given for misbehavior, and repeat offenses will result in your having to make other arrangements for your child's before and after school care.

 

CONFERENCES:

Conferences with Extended Day Staff are held by appointment only.

 

STUDENT BEHAVIOR:

It is expected that student of the Extended Day Program will follow all of the expected rules of conduct as enforced during the school day.  Respect for Extended Day personnel is key. Failure to follow rules and behaviors that jeopardize student safety will not be tolerated, and can result in removal from the Extended Day Program.

 

SNACKS:

Your child may bring snacks to Morning and After Care as you choose.. The Extended Day program will not provide food or drink to students.

 

MORNING ARRIVAL:

Parents must escort the child(ren) to Franciscan Hall doors to sign in.  Supervision begins at 6:45 a.m.  Students planning to arrive at school between 6:45a.m. and 9:00 a.m., must attend Morning Care.  Parents will be billed accordingly.

 

AFTERNOON DISMISSAL:

Parents must enter via the doors of Franciscan Hall at the West side of the building.  Parents enter and sign their child out for the day.  Extended Day staff may require photo identification for dismissal in an effort to protect students safely.  Supervision ends at 6:00 p.m.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:

Emergency contacts, medical authorizations and pick-up designees are listed on the Extended Day Registration Forms.  Student safety is our top priority and Extended Day Staff will act out diligently to preserve the welfare and safety of the children entrusted to our care.

 

CHANGES IN DISMISSAL ARRANGEMENT:

Daily users of the program will proceed directly to Room 4 in Franciscan Hall at dismissal.  Parents of  frequent users should send a note to school in the morning, via their child, stating that the child is expected to attend the Extended Day Program that day.  Emergency users must call the school office by 2:00 pm., should an unexpected circumstance mandate that a child attend Extended Day.  If a parent does not arrive for dismissal by 3:30 p.m., your child will be sent to Extended Day and the parent will be billed accordingly.

 

ILLINOIS MANDATED REPORTERS:

Extended Day Staff members are held by Illinois Law to report allegations of child abuse or neglect to the proper authorities.

 

AMENDMENTS TO THIS HANDBOOK:

The school administration reserved the right to amend this handbook as deemed necessary
