Restless Hearts Registration-November 5

Restless Hearts

The Peace & Social Justice Ministry will host:

Restless Hearts: Called to Compassion
Saturday, November 5, Franciscan Hall
8:30am-Noon (presentations begin at 9am)

Pope Francis urges us to hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor. The morning will consist of three 45-minute presentations by those working to reduce the suffering of God’s people and God’s earth – all Creation.

Speakers include Fr. Robert Dueweke, OSA who serves in the diocese of Lexington, KY where a long history of coal mining and mountaintop removal has resulted in poverty and damage to the environment; Fr. Homero Sanchez, OSA, pastor at St. Rita of Cascia Parish in Chicago serving predominantly Mexican immigrants and families; and Sister Nancy Schramm, OSF who was a missionary for over 30 years in the Amazon areas of Brazil, where people experience poverty, violence and the exploitation of their native habitat.

There is no fee to attend: guests will be given the opportunity to make a free-will offering. Light snacks will be served. For planning purposes, phone or on-line registration is preferred.
